 Absolutely Fabulous
This hit British comedy series began as a short sketch on French & Saunders with Jennifer Saunders in her familiar role as Eddie and Dawn French playing her daughter. A pilot for the series was filmed with the comediennes in those respective roles but studio execs didn't believe that Dawn French could pull off playing a teenage girl so the part was recast and up-and-coming star Julia Sawalha from Press Gang fame won the role of Saffy. Add a dash of actress Joanna Lumley and the immensly popular and entertaining series was born. |
